Digital media are reshaping how and what we learn about the past. This introduction to digital history explores the impact of new media on the historian’s craft.
The course has a double focus on the history of digital media and on their influence on all aspects of historical work: the collection, organization, and analysis of sources as well as the communication of results. Moreover, the course provides basic hands-on lessons in the use of digital tools and methods for historical research such as text mining and data visualization.
It is relevant for anyone interested in historical research, archives, libraries, journalism, digital culture, and digital humanities.

Eligibility:
To be admitted to the course, students must have completed and passed Media History: Level 1 (MHIA11) or the equivalent in another humanities/social sciences subject.
