At this event, three recent PhD graduates will share their experiences. They come from different disciplines and universities but their theses focus on some aspects of East and South-East Asian societies.

The PhD graduates will discuss, among other things, their choice of thesis topic, area vs discipline challenges, if any, how they have chosen which courses and workshops to take, issues related to fieldwork and data collection, teaching as a PhD, if applicable, and their publication and career strategies during their PhD as well as after. Their experiences will provide useful knowledge for those planning to do a PhD and for those already enrolled. Their experiences will also be useful for developing the Graduate School in Asian Studies further.
